Role Description:
NeuroPraxis is seeking an Occupational Therapist (Independent Contractor) to provide telehealth and/or in-person occupational therapy services in Santa Maria, San Jose, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Sacramento, and Stockton areas. This role involves delivering home- and community-based therapy services to individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries. The Occupational Therapist will conduct evaluations, develop and implement treatment plans, and collaborate with NeuroPraxis’ interdisciplinary team to deliver goal-oriented, client-centered rehabilitation services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-person occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Provide therapy services in home and community settings
- Document services and progress in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to support client goals
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and care partners in Spanish and English
Qualifications
- Current California Occupational Therapist license in good standing
- Spanish-speaking is preferred but not required
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Experience working with individuals with brain injury and/or spinal cord injury
- Ability to work independently as an independent contractor
- Experience in home-based or community-based therapy preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Pediatric experience is a plus, but not required

Role Description:
This position focuses on adults with neurological injuries who may experience difficulties related to executive functioning, emotional regulation, behavioral control, task initiation, treatment participation, interpersonal relationships, and community integration. The BCBA applies evidence-based principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to develop individualized interventions that improve adaptive functioning, support behavioral stability, and promote meaningful participation in daily life.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with clients, families, caregivers, and clinical team members to develop practical strategies that support rehabilitation goals while maintaining a strong commitment to person-centered, ethical, and trauma-informed care.
This position is primarily remote and utilizes telehealth technology, virtual coaching, caregiver training, interdisciplinary meetings, and ongoing treatment monitoring to support successful client outcomes.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
- Master’s degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Behavioral Science, Education, or a related field.
- Active Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing.
- Eligibility to provide services in the jurisdictions where clients are located.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience providing behavioral assessment and intervention services.
- Experience working with adults experiencing neurological, cognitive, behavioral, or functional impairments.
- Knowledge of functional behavior assessment, behavior intervention planning, and behavioral data analysis.
- Experience providing caregiver training and behavioral consultation.
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and telehealth technology.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Preference may be given to candidates who possess:
• Three or more years of experience within neurorehabilitation settings.
• Experience working with traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or other neurological populations.
• Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) or Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer (CBIST) credentials.
• Knowledge of neurobehavioral rehabilitation principles.
• Familiarity with workers’ compensation, catastrophic injury, and personal injury populations.
• Experience in interdisciplinary or post-acute rehabilitation programs.
• Experience providing telehealth-based behavioral consultation and caregiver support.
• Understanding of executive functioning deficits, cognitive impairment, emotional regulation challenges, and behavioral complications associated with neurological injury.
• Experience supporting individuals with barriers affecting independent living, employment, community participation, and interpersonal relationships.
